Mountain MP vows to hold ministers’ feet to the fire during tough economic times

Chris Charlton will be paying particular attention to labour and finance matters in the upcoming session of Parliament.

The Mountain New Democrat MP was earlier this week named her party’s critic for Labour and deputy critic for Finance. “I’m very excited about the portfolio that I got,” said Ms. Charlton, who noted NDP MPs were asked by leader Jack Layton which areas interested them.

OTTAWA – Protecting the jobs, wages and pensions of hard-working families during the economic downturn should be this Parliament’s top priority. That’s the view of newly re-elected Mountain MP, Chris Charlton, who was named the New Democrat’s Labour and Deputy Finance Critic today in Ottawa.

Charlton will take over responsibility for these key economic portfolios for the NDP at a time when workers and their families will need a strong advocate for their interests.
